EPDM Roofing System
Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) roofing systems is a rubber ‘thermoset’ roofing membrane, meaning the seams are ‘adhered’ together, rather than welded together like thermoplastic membranes (such as TPO or PVC systems). The greatest test of any construction material is how it performs under actual field conditions. Four decades of empirical field applications shows EPDM has the longest average ‘service life’. EPDM’s high resistance to wind damage has also proven to be an increasingly desirable attribute. The roof system is built to meet a variety of wind uplift criteria from FM Global, 1-60, 1-90, and 1-120 ratings or higher; including the stringent codes of Miami/Dade County, Florida. Typical installation methods for RAMCON EPDM roofing systems include ballasted, mechanically fastened or fully adhered applications.
SUPERIOR ROOFTOP PERFORMANCE AND LONGEVITY
Based on high-performance synthetic rubber compound, EPDM roofing systems exhibit outstanding resistance to UV radiation, ozone, and weathering, and offers excellent low-temperature properties for longer service life.
ROOF RECOVERIES AND VERSATILITY
EPDM membrane weighs less than a half pound per square foot making it great fit for roof recoveries.
SUPERIOR FLEXIBILITY AND HIGH STRENGTH
EPDM membrane easily contours to unusual roof shapes. EPDM membranes can elongate to over 300% of their original dimensions, exhibiting outstanding thermal expansion and contraction characteristics.
LESS ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
RAMCON’s material comes from manufacturer’s whose plants are ISO-9001 certified and located to provide nationwide coverage. White EPDM systems can add LEED® points to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a commercial building. Plus, the proximity of product availability reduces greenhouse gas emission and contributes to energy conservation. EPDM is almost completely recyclable.
HIGH REFLECTIVITY WITH WHITE EPDM
White EPDM membranes exceed the EPA’s ENERGY STAR® requirements, listed with the Cool Roof Rating Council and is compliant with California’s Title 24 Energy Efficiency Building Standards. Using White EPDM membrane can add to credits with LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).
