Leading with Precision and Safety

As a foreman, Herbert’s responsibilities go beyond overseeing a crew. His daily focus is on creating a safe work environment, making sure each roofing system is installed correctly, and ensuring that all materials are accounted for. He also maintains strong communication with general contractors and supervisors, documenting progress through extensive project photos to guarantee quality assurance.

For Herbert, doing the job right the first time isn’t just a goal—it’s a standard. He ensures that his team is well-equipped, well-trained, and working efficiently to avoid mistakes that could lead to costly rework or safety hazards.

Overcoming Challenges on the Job

No roofing job is without its obstacles, and Herbert has faced his fair share of challenges. One of his most memorable projects involved installing a tapered insulation system, where his team had carefully placed and secured all materials—only to find out that an AC unit had been installed in the wrong spot. Instead of panicking, Herbert and his crew strategically cut out the misplaced unit and reconfigured the insulation to maintain the correct slope and water drainage. His quick thinking and ability to adapt ensured that the job was completed successfully, preventing long-term issues for the client.

A Career of Growth and Opportunity

Herbert credits Ramcon Roofing for opening many opportunities for him in the roofing industry. “I’ve learned so much, and I’m still learning every day,” he says. His commitment to growth and hands-on leadership has not only strengthened his expertise but also helped mentor the next generation of roofers.

Beyond the Job Site

Outside of work, Herbert enjoys spending quality time with his family and seven grandkids. Whether he’s taking them on fun outings or just enjoying their company, family is at the heart of everything he does.

When he’s not on the job or with his grandkids, you can catch him watching classic TV shows and movies from the ‘80s and ‘90s—a nostalgic escape that reminds him of his childhood.
