This month, we’re proud to recognize Steve K. as he celebrates 24 years with RAMCON and a career in commercial roofing that has made a lasting impact on our company, our customers, and the industry.
Steve’s career in roofing extends even further than his 24 years at RAMCON. Before RAMCON opened its doors in 2002, Steve was already an experienced commercial roofing professional. At Nu-Tec Roofing Contractors, he served as Executive Vice President of Sales & Estimating, demonstrating the sales and estimating expertise that would remain an important part of his career.
Decades of Commercial Roofing Experience
Over the course of his career, Steve has developed extensive knowledge of commercial roofing, with experience spanning sales, estimating, customer relationships, and the overall business of roofing.
That kind of knowledge is built over decades. It comes from evaluating countless opportunities, understanding complex commercial projects, working alongside contractors and industry partners, navigating challenges, and—most importantly, learning how to build relationships that last.
When RAMCON opened for business in 2002, Steve was there alongside Dale and Sonny Burdine. The company focused on large commercial and industrial properties, including low-slope roofing systems such as TPO, modified bitumen, and other commercial roof assemblies. More than two decades later, RAMCON continues to specialize in commercial and industrial roofing throughout Florida.
Throughout that growth, Steve’s industry experience has remained an important resource for the company.
Building Relationships That Last
Commercial roofing is about much more than installing a roof. Strong customer relationships are built through trust, communication, consistency, and delivering on commitments; qualities that have remained important throughout Steve’s career.
The strength of those relationships can be seen throughout RAMCON today. In a 2024 profile of the company, Roofing Contractor reported that RAMCON estimated approximately 93% of its clientele came from repeat business at that time. That accomplishment reflects the work of the entire organization and the long-term relationships RAMCON’s team has worked to establish and maintain.
Steve has played an important role in that relationship-driven approach over the years, bringing decades of sales and estimating experience along with an understanding of what customers expect from their roofing contractor.
His work has also put him alongside customers and industry partners during some important moments for RAMCON. In 2024, RAMCON shared Steve K. and Adam B. accepting ARCO Murray Construction Company’s 2023 Vendor of the Year Award on behalf of the company, while recognizing the hundreds of RAMCON employees whose work made the achievement possible.
Experience Worth Sharing
One of the greatest benefits of decades of experience is the ability to pass that knowledge along.
Steve has become a trusted source of institutional knowledge at RAMCON. In its 2024 company profile, Roofing Contractor highlighted Steve’s role as an experienced roofing veteran and mentor to RAMCON’s next generation of leadership.
That mentorship matters.
The roofing industry continues to evolve—from new systems and installation methods to changing building requirements, safety expectations, technology, and customer needs. Having someone who has experienced decades of that change provides a perspective that simply cannot be developed overnight.
Whether it is understanding a project, navigating a customer relationship, evaluating an opportunity, or sharing knowledge gained through years in the industry, Steve’s experience continues to provide value to the people around him.
Making an Impact Beyond RAMCON
Steve’s involvement in the roofing industry has extended beyond his work at RAMCON.
In 2009, the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) presented Steve with its Charlie Raymond Award in the individual category. NRCA describes the honor as its most prestigious membership recruitment award, recognizing extraordinary efforts to recruit new members and strengthen the association.
His involvement has also included giving back to the local community. In 2008, the West Coast Roofing Contractors Association brought together local roofing companies and suppliers to replace the roof at the offices of Angels Unaware. The organization specifically thanked Steve for helping coordinate the effort, which involved donated labor and materials from numerous members of the local roofing community.
Moments like these demonstrate an impact that reaches beyond individual projects and reflects a career deeply connected to the roofing industry and the relationships within it.
Celebrating 24 Years at RAMCON
Twenty-four years represents countless projects, conversations, relationships, challenges, accomplishments, and changes within both RAMCON and the commercial roofing industry.
Through it all, Steve’s experience and industry knowledge have remained an important part of RAMCON’s story. From his background in sales and estimating to the customer relationships he has developed and the knowledge he has shared with others, his contributions have helped shape the company RAMCON is today.
As we recognize this milestone, we also recognize the years of experience behind it and the impact Steve continues to have on the people around him.
